Love Letter To My Wife Because

Dearest Deborah,

This morning the shadow of dawn reached out and touched my cheek through the window. Already I could see a perfect sky, a perfect dawn, the beginning of a perfect day.

But what made it the most perfect start to the day?

You did.

Your smile in sleep, your morning scent, the way your hair curls over your head, the way you turned to face me.

Outside nature began a day of perfection. Within my heart, you gave me the start to a perfect day, too.

Love forever and always, Michael

EVEN ON A CLOUDY DAY

Dearest Deborah,

Even on a cloudy day when the sky is gray and the ground is damp and gray and the air is stuffy and feels gray and the sidewalks are dirty gray and I think everywhere is just plain gray, I think to you, my love and companion, and everything lights up and shines like sunbeams and brilliance and I can hear the songbird and the angels and I do not feel the gray--I feel you, my love, close by--making the gray go away and bringing in the blue skies.

Stormy Love

Dearest Deborah,

When the sky opened up past midnight and lightning gashed through the sky and thunder screamed, I reached over to hold you. You are and have always been my truest love, my blanket, my security, my hopes and dreams.

Holding you the storm was just another bump in the world around us, but you and I, we're a mountain, a golden palace, the very moon shining over everything to keep us believing.

Sunshine and Love

Dearest Deborah,

There is nothing finer in the world than sunlight, you and me, a walk in the park, and the shade of the tall trees.

What more is there to say?

When life is perfect--and it's always perfect when I'm thinking of you--life is just plain perfect.

There's nothing more to say.

Love forever and always, Michael

Spring Showers

Dearest Deborah,

It was misty when I left for work today and you know how much I don't like walking in the rain. The clouds looked weak and even the darker ones were calming down. I could see we had a good rain during the night, but I slept through it, being with you.

I don't like the rain, but I do like rainbows. I like the way small prisms of color form in the puddles. I even like the way the air feels after a good rain.

The mistiness stopped. The rainbow grew bigger. I thought about how beautiful it looked. Just like a giant bridge in color across the entire sky. Almost as beautiful as you.

Almost.

Passover and Easter

Easter Sunday came in with a breeze and sunshine and the perfect place of blooming flowers and grass and art everywhere--God's masterpiece.

You're His masterpiece too, and I'm lucky as heaven to have you around as my best friend, lover and wife.

Did I ever tell you how much I love your gentle touch across that convas we call my back? Well, I guess I did just now.

I love you and you need to know this.

Always.

Love forever and always, Michael

gardening

When we tilled the land, we revitalized it with the seeds of flowers and sweet smelling blossoms. We cut the tall grass and gave the earth a new look. We trimmed back the trees to give new growth a chance.

Our love is like that. We revitalize and trim back and make everything all that much better.

Our love is full of springtime and new growth and everything great with the world.

morning

Dearest Deborah,

Just wanted you to know how great it is to wake up and you're next to me. Your smile is that brilliant, your skin that soft, your love that warm--and, of course, you're that beautiful.

APRIL'S RAINBOW

It’s April and everyone knows that means rain. Lots of rain. We need it anyway. I took the bus to work today and thought of you, the rain slipping down the windows, the wipers making loud gushing sounds, the streets slick and shiny.

Even in rain, when I think of you I can’t help but smile.

You are the rainbow of my life.

Love forever and always, Michael

THE VOICE OF RAIN

Last night I called you on my way home from work and your voice was the voice of love, the voice of sweet melody, the kind of voice that calms you like rain dripping onto the roof--thump, thump, thump--so relaxing you just want to stay where you are and imagine everything great in the world.

I only have to imagine you.

You're the greatest thing in my world.

Love forever and always, Michael

Sunny Times

Dearest Deborah,

It's April and the sun is shining and the clouds are whiter and the sky bluer and everything about April is warm and nice and just like you.

Love, let us take a walk tonight by the lake and hold hands and remember the good times when we were young and dating.

Better yet.

Be ready at 6. We're going out. My chariot will be waiting. Dinner for two. Candlelight. Wine. I'll pick up the food. We'll go to the lake and sit on our blanket and have the good time.

Love forever and always, Michael

Butterflies

A great monarch butterfly flew past me this morning. It's early in spring and its visit, its majesty, surprised me. It landed on a nearby blossom. The trees are beginning to show their spring colors--pink and red, blue and violet. The monarch spread its wings and held still for me to look at it closer.

I just finished reading the first volume of THE SEVENTH TOWER, a children's book. In the book the heroes also observe everything, though their nature is different from ours--giant insects spitting out dyes to color your hair green, moss covered animals that hug you to death.

I observed the butterfly like they did their world, and I am glad I am on mine. You are here with me. Like the butterfly, you are full of surprises, majesties of greatness and beauty. I want to thank you for everything you have to offer.

THE PICNIC

Dearest Deborah,

How grand the sky was today! How grand the clouds! How grand the grass and the trees and the wind! How grand the warmth of spring, the smell of food, the glass of wine! How grand!

That's why I'm with you.

Without you a shadow passes over the earth, blocks the sky, grays the clouds, breaks the trees, throws a tantrum with hail and rain and brings on the cold, Without you I shiver and frown and wonder why food and wine doesn't taste so well. Without you--without you--well, without you everything would not be quite so grand.

Thanks for coming into my life.

Love forever and always, Michael
