AFTER ONE WEEK OF SUMMER VACATION

Dearest Deborah,

Summer vacation is one week old and we sat by the beach and watched the water and listened to the joy of the children in the water. We have walked long stretches together and we have talked about a number of things. The days have been cool, the sun has come out, and even the rain has stopped for us to enjoy each other.

Love is both a perfect and an imperfect proposition just as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You wake from your slumber and you wake from your dreams and I am the first to see you--a morning glory seeking out the sunlight, a water lily quenching all of the knowledge, a century plant knowing the grace of aging gently.

I like the touch of your skin, the scent on your hand, the way your eyes open to a new experience.

Today we plan a drive in the country. All is well in the world. All is well in my life. All is well because I am with you--in love--and we are together.

Love forever and always,

Michael
